Our Mission

What is Day of Service?

Each year we bring hundreds of volunteers together to help give back. The Day of Service began in 2012 as a way for Sammamish Hills Lutheran, to volunteer in the local area. It has grown to be a large interfaith and community event we plan to continue annually as a way to lift up those in need. We promise it will be a day that you will remember. Join us!

800+
Volunteers

For one day be a part of a movement with hundreds coming together to help the community. You'll leave changed for the better and with new friends.

22 Organizations Served

We work with groups that help in all walks of life from helping those transitioning out of homelessness, our elderly hoping to age in place, our military, and of course the environment.  You name it, we are happy to help.

8 Cities

With so many different locations, we hope you can find one near you! From Sammamish to Seattle, Renton to Bellevue and everywhere in between.

32 Groups

In the past we’ve had 32 different faith based organization and community groups involved. Reach out to your community and help us get even more next year!

Countless Lives Changed

We can't measure this with an exact number but whether you are a volunteer or the recipient of our efforts, this event will have an everlasting impact on your life.

2,788 Hours

Pre-pandemic our event had over 2,700 hours of time worked by our amazing volunteers. That's over 3 1/2 months of time in one day!

Other Ways to Help

Can't Make It?

Donate funds

Help us cover costs on some of our amazing projects with a monetary donation. It will be used for things like purchasing fabric for making blankets that we donate to organizations like Eastside Baby Corner or Lifewire.

Other Opportunities

Just because you can't join us day of, doesn't mean you can't be a part of Day of Service. We need help with tasks that happen before our event as well. Join us and get involved.

Share with Others

Tell your friends, coworkers, and family members - EVERYONE - about our event! Encourage them to like us on Facebook or volunteer their time. Word of mouth is a powerful tool to helping us accomplish our mission.

FAQs

Have Questions?

Question

I’m out of town on the Day of Service. Is there anything I can do to help on a different day?

Answer

Yes!  We always need monetary donations to assist in purchasing items like fleece for blankets volunteers make and flowers and mulch for the Senior's yards we spruce up.

There are also several events that are not on May 06 that you can absolutely help us with including being a part of our food drive in April or delivering some of the items after Day of Service.

Question

I have bikes to donate for the Bike Works project but won’t be around on May 06th. Is there somewhere I can drop them off ahead of time?

Answer

Yes! Please drop them off anytime on the sport court at: 21626 SE 28th St., Sammamish, WA. We will make sure they get to the event on May 06th.

Question

My teens need volunteer hours…..does working the Day of Service count? Is there someone available to sign off the hours?

Answer

Yes! There will be people and forms at every location who can sign off service hours for your student.
